Individual Psychotherapy
We practice psychotherapy through one-on-one individual sessions as we encourage our clients to feel empowered as individuals living a unique life journey. Though family and close relationships are vital to living a happy life, one must first be in touch with who they are as a separate entity as well as what they bring to the relationship or family. It is for this reason that we enjoy practicing psychotherapy on an individual basis, so that our clients can receive the undivided attention and focus that they deserve. Sessions including romantic partners or family members can be arranged after the initial individual assessment has been completed.
Our practice offers psychotherapy for all people from all walks of life. If you are unsure if what you are experiencing can be treated, or if our practice is the right fit for you, contact us with your concerns and we can suggest an appropriate therapist that best fits your needs. We have worked with individuals experiencing the following:
+ Areas of Expertise
ADHD | addiction | alcohol/substance Abuse | anger management | anxiety | Asperger’s syndrome | behavioural issues | bipolar disorder | borderline personality | career confusion | codependency | depression | divorce | domestic abuse | dual diagnosis | eating disorders | family conflict | grief | infidelity | life transitions | men’s issues | narcissism | obesity | obsessive-compulsive (OCD) | parenting | pregnancy, postpartum | racial identity | relationship issues | school issues | self-esteem | self-harming | sex therapy | sexual abuse | sexual addiction | sexual orientation & identity | spirituality | stress | suicidal ideation | trauma & PTSD | women’s issues
Psychotherapy for Couples
We truly enjoy working with couples in romantic relationships. Because of the importance of individual exploration, our approach to couples therapy begins with individual assessments. Following these assessments, the individual path of exploration can continue, or joint sessions as a couple may be the next step. After individual self-exploration, the couple can be brought together to discuss the objectives of both parties and to create a unified plan or goal for the relationship as a whole.
Communication between partners can be challenging as two people in a romantic relationship are often wired very differently. We must keep this in mind while going about daily life together and while working as a team.
We believe it is paramount that romantic relationships be built on a strong foundation of trust, respect, kindness, affection, and unconditional love.
Psychotherapy for Adolescents
At Soul Sessions, one of our focuses is working with adolescents who may be struggling with life transitions. The teen years can be very difficult as day-to-day life can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster. With an understanding of development and maturation stages of the child and adolescent years, we specialize in treating teens struggling with a number of life challenges and emotional/behavioural issues:
+ Areas of Expertise
life changes | social skills and confidence | anxiety and fear | dating and relationships | low self-esteem | low motivation or work ethic | issues in school | explosive anger and emotional outbursts | suicidal ideation | hallucinations | substance abuse and addictions | attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) | self-harming behaviours | borderline personality disorder (BPD)
Women’s Empowerment
Another focus of our practice is women’s issues. It is our goal to empower women who have forgotten their worth and beauty, while trying to maneuver their way through the challenging circumstances of life. This can leave women feeling wounded and broken. Whether it be victims of domestic violence; women suffering with depression and low self-esteem; or working women and “super moms” who can’t seem to schedule time for themselves, we thoroughly enjoy serving women, as women.
Spiritual Psychotherapy
For some clients, a psychospiritual approach to their treatment is preferred. Spiritual therapy is a form of counseling which focuses on treatment of a person's soul, as well as mind and body, by using their faith in a higher power to explore areas of conflict in life.
